[ pointing up at a more complicated looking bow on the wall, with metal bits and pulleys and scopes and wheels and all kinds of nonsense on it. ] The nice thing in both is they effectively give you a longer draw, so you get more force, speed, distance, yada yada, right? Problem with Compounds, though, is they take some set up, and some tools. Great for competitions, shitty for battlefield.
I can slap together a traditional long bow for you, but I'd say take a swing with a Recurve. You'll like the extra reach, I promise.
